First things first, you need to go to Glen Hosey's site and download the latest version of Buster. You can find it at: http://www.fortunecity.com/littleitaly/caravaggio/146/
If you have MasterCook, download the MC version, ditto MealMaster. Right now there is NO Mac version available, but I believe Glen is working on it. Bookmark the site. Updates are pretty frequent.
After you've downloaded Buster, put it in a directory of it's own. I call my directory "Buster". You might want to make a shortcut for it on your desktop. (If you don't know how to create a directory or a shortcut, email me!) To make this as basic as
possible you might want to set your files up like mine are, that way you can follow right along and perhaps it will make more sense. Directory: D:\Buster (don't worry if you don't have a D drive. C is ok, too! This is where the program is stored and where you'll store the recipes you want to bust.
Subdirectory: MC (this is where I store already busted files till I want to import them)
Another thing you might want to do is download a text editor. You probably have a word processing program on your computer now. DON'T USE IT FOR THIS!! LOL A word processor is really too much for this kind of thing. You need a simple text editor. I was using Works 4.0 to edit and there were so many steps to saving a recipe as a text file that I was wasting a lot of time.
You can find text editors at: http://www.pcwin.com/software/prod/editors.asp
I use NoteTab Pro. The thing I like best about it is that it has a feature that will strip HTML garbage from recipes you download from the Internet, making them a whole lot easier to import. The freeware version, Super NoteTab Light 4.01, is available at the site mentioned above. Even easier is Edit Pro, found on the site too. I've downloaded and installed that, but haven't played with it yet. It's also freeware.
That's it for the first lesson. Next lesson the real learning begins!! If anyone has any questions, EVER, please feel free to email privately.
