Brazilian Rum Drink
Makes twelve 4- Ounce Drinks

A blender makes this drink easy to prepare. In Brazil the limes are often replaced with fresh fruit of the season, such as papaya, guave, or passion fruit. The cachaca is sometimes sold with the Ypica label. In America we also usually do batida with Vodka.

12 limes
1 1/2 cups superfine sugar
3 cups Cachaca (Brazilian rum), Vodka or Light Run
20 ice cubes, chipped

With a vegetable peeler, zester, or very sharp knife, remove strips of peel from limes.
Quarter the limes and place them in a blender.Add sugar and rum and blend. Spoon a heaping teaspoon of ice chips into each chilled glass. Pour the lime and rum mixture over them and garnish with the lime strips. Serve immediately.

(Strawberry Cooler)

1 can condensed milk (Important--don't use evaporated milk--must be "condensed")
1 carton of strawberries
Sugar -- to suit
Optional - rum or other liquor
Water -- about 11/2 quarts

Put the ingredients in a blender; blend strawberries and milk; add water and mix well.
Vary the amount of water and sugar to suit your taste. Add liquor if desired. Keep in refrigerator until time to drink.
